Mechanical Engineer (Design and Process)

Department: Engineering

Reporting To: Engineering Manager

Job Purpose:
Provide design, product development and process support to compliment and expand our existing engineering capabilities. To work within a team based environment on specialised technical engineering projects for both Cranfield Precision and Cinetic Landis Ltd.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design of mechanisms and systems using CAD.
  2. Product development of new modules and machines.
  3. Process development and support for customer and machine trials.
  4. Manage projects within a team based environment.
  5. Liaise with customers on a technical and commercial level.
  6. Work within our ISO9000-2008 quality system.

Qualifications:
This post requires a relevant engineering degree or HND however candidates with alternative qualifications and the required knowledge and experience will be also considered.

CNC Software Development Engineer

Department: CNC Development

Reporting To: Manager, CNC Systems Design

Job Purpose:
Cranfield Precision's proprietary controller, the CNC6400, has been developed over the last 35 years within the domain of a small group of dedicated software design specialists. The advancement of the real time and Human Machine Interface (HMI) elements of the CNC executive control is needed as new mechanical systems evolve.

The CNC team additionally have the freedom to experiment with new concepts in software design that develop enabling technologies that could offer the machine designers a range of competitive advantages.

Although day to day demands from production at Cinetic Landis Ltd have to be met in a timely manner, the evolution process for the CNC system is not restricted to immediate product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Software development in C/C++.
  2. Use of Microsoft developer tools and technologies.
  3. Interpretation and programming of applied mathematical problems.
  4. Software development in a multi-core/multi-process/multi-threaded real time environment.

Qualifications:
A degree in computer science or software engineering is expected, however candidates with alternative qualifications and the required knowledge and experience would be considered.

Some knowledge or an appreciation of machine systems design would be an advantage.
